![]() One of the first little critters, to be displayed in the E. Z. Lab, was the earthworm. A simple creature with few needs and a lowly position, yet he plays a big part in our lives. The web site about Herman the Worm provided all the information I needed to start a worm farm and teach the students about the importance of the earthworm in our lives. I always use red worms. They seems to take the wear of being displayed and kept in a warm environment. The children love the worms and think they are "cute". We always use gloves when handling them so the salt on our hands does not harm their skin. At the end of the month, we turn the worms "loose" in our main terrarium which is a toad and snail habitat. They live there happily and are still viewable from time to time. Be sure to check out Herman and the other sites. With all of this information, you will be a worm expert in no time at all! ~Ms. Coleen |
